We believe that with access to the right building blocks, everyone can reach their full potential and contribute to our community. Almost every day, hundreds of children under the age of 5 count on the Opportunity Council for breakfast, lunch, and mealtime with their friends and teachers. Their healthy development is dependent on healthy food and social connection. That’s why we’re committed to building a commercial kitchen capable of feeding the more than 400 children that count on all of us to care for them. 

With a few last pieces of commercial equipment to purchase and some final inspection boxes left to check after some unexpected construction costs, the new kitchen is just about ready. Here Maureen (our Birth to 5 programs manager) and Jon (our project contractor) fill us in on some of what’s been happening and give you a sneak peek.
