Are you interested in nonprofit work? Maybe you’re looking for more hands-on learning about nonprofit management than in a typical internship.

You can find this by volunteering for the Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program with Opportunity Council. VISTA is part of AmeriCorps, a federal agency that connects volunteers to work with organizations that help with issues like disaster response, the opioid crisis, and education.

Apply for an open AmeriCorps VISTA position in Whatcom County. These 1-year paid volunteer positions work to lift the communities where you live out of poverty. VISTA volunteers help make lasting change by working with nonprofits to build their capacity to serve.

Roles vary based on what each nonprofit needs, but VISTA volunteers may help:

Maintain relationships between organizations
Research and plan ways for organizations to reach and serve more people
