Veterans Services
Veteran issues are community issues.
No matter the branch, character, or length of service, Opportunity Council strives to ensure those that have served our country are seen and supported in their communities.
Through individualized help and supportive services, assistance in securing housing, and connections, we work with Veterans and Veteran families to ensure they have the resources and support to thrive in the places they call home. Veterans and their families may be eligible for assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits, which may include:
- Health care
- Child care
- Housing counseling
- Daily living services
- Specialized resources for Veterans with criminal housing.
Opportunity Council also administers the Supportive Services for Veterans Families program in Whatcom, Island, San Juan, Jefferson, and Clallam Counties. This program from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is specifically designed to support very low-income Veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent supportive housing.
